Whilst we here in Tasmania have been swept up in the excitement of the recent Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival & Magic Millions sale, a four year old bay mare carrying the Motree Brand has been busy flying the flag for us on the mainland.
The Luke Oliver trained “Spanish Tides” made it win number two from only five starts when scoring an effortless win at Pakenham on Thursday night.
It has been quite a journey to the racetrack for the daughter of Puissance de Lune x Spanish Symphony.
Sent as a weanling to Leanne Smith of Bucklee Farm, Greta West (VIC) to be prepared for the 2017 Inglis Great Northern Sale, she was purchased by Diamond Park Breeding and Racing for 14k.
On sold at the 2018 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale as a yearling, she was then purchased by Luke Oliver Racing for 25k.
The stable appear to be very happy with the purchase stating they are “confident that once she puts it all together, she will measure up to city class and give her great group of owners a lot of fun”.
There is also plenty of good news on the local front with a 2yo half-brother by War currently in the care of the John Blacker team, whilst broodmare Spanish Symphony currently has a Turffontein colt at foot and a return date booked in to Swettenham Studs “Puissance de Lune”.
We look forward to following the path Luke and the team set for the promising mare in the months ahead.
