Motree bred Up Wind continued his love affair with gods’ carpet yesterday recording his third victory on the tapeta surface.

Affectionately nicknamed “Scotty” (after trainer Scott Brunton) due his penchant for finding trouble as a younger horse Up Wind has certainly had no trouble in finding the line this preparation.

Given another textbook ride from Ismail Toker, Up Wind again let down stylishly when asked to account for former mainlanders Is Don Is Good and Invincible Rock in impressive fashion.

The victory brought up a winning double on the day for Motree Thoroughbreds and a winning treble for the in form Leanne Gaffney stable which continues to enjoy an incredible run of success.

Post race Gaffney predicted a bright future for the horse “Up Wind was a terrific run in last season’s Tasmanian Derby and I think he will excel when we get him out over a decent trip.”
