Motree bred Up Wind kicked off the new season in style today at Devonport.

Starting a well supported 2.70 favorite off the back of a pleasing return first up the son of Needs Further appreciated the step up to 1350m, easily accounting for the talented Fiveandfurther.

For breeder Many Gunn it was a satisfying result as the dam of Up Wind “Totness”  was the first mare ever purchased by Motree Thoroughbreds following a visit to the historic Armidale Stud in Carrick.

The win continued a fantastic run for trainer Leanne Gaffney who has enjoyed an incredible strike rate over the past season and with Up Wind already proven at a mile and beyond there are many reasons to be optimistic for what lies ahead.
